I love Pho, and Ca Dao does it right. They get you in and out in record time for lunch and keep you satisfied throughout. Definitely give these guys a try if you like egg rolls and soup.

You're sure to get two things at the Cheesecake Factory...a menu as long as War and Peace, and a mediocre dining experience. This night, I went with their BBQ burger. Not bad, not great, but it did the trick.

OK, here's what you need to know about the Grant Grill. Get the Manhattan and get the Focaccia bread. The Manhattan is pre-made and aged for 100 days (the bartenders will give you the full scoop on that one). The bread is the best I've found in San Diego. It's a heaping loaf of carby-goodness served warm with soft better topped with sea salt. I also had their potato lentil cakes which were also pretty good. What you need to remember, though is Manhattan & Focaccia. You're welcome!

I had high hopes for Social Tap, but alas...
The food was bland and the service was lackluster. I was there for football brunch and had the chorizo eggs. How one makes chorizo eggs bland is beyond me, but Social Tap pulled it off.
Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, they did just open. I might give them another try, but first impressions were weak. Too much competition in the area to get by with this level of experience.

OK, it has the feel of a greasy-spoon or diner, but sometimes that exactly what you need. In for a quick breakfast, I ended up getting their eggs benedict, but instead of Canadian bacon there was pork sausage, and instead of English muffin there was a biscuit. The dish was pretty awesome, having great flavor and freshness. Service was quick and efficient...very dineresque. The lines are usually long, but the food is good.

As chains go, I typically like TGI Fridays. I think I caught them mid-shift, though, because it took a long time for the bartender to come over (after he got there, though, things were fine). The good news was their happy hour; half price apps and some decent drink specials. I got out of there with a 20oz beer and queso for about $10. Of course, in the heart of downtown, there are far better options.

This is a pretty cool spot, but let's be honest...you go for the beer and not the food. The burger was somewhat lack-luster and for 13 bucks, I would have expected more. That said, they've got some awesome craft beer on tap, including some variations of their standard offerings. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

You would not think this place is Italian by the decor, but the menu definitely leans heavily in that direction. I had a burger, and it was tasty with a lot of flavors going on; about what you'd expect for $15. Service was fine, but the bartender was more interested in side work than customers.

These are supposed to be the best fish tacos in San Diego. Well, I don't know about the best...but they're pretty damn good. I went with the wahoo, shark, and carne asada. Fish quality was great, and the add-ons were fresh and complimentary. The bar and restaurant are a bit on the divey side, but the ocean view is just awesome. The biggest con is that you have to go into the hell that is OB, but if you're already there, definitely check out this spot.

Cool spot. They have a pretty solid beer selection and the bartender and I chatted about different brews for a while. For lunch, I started with the chili fries and then had a Bahn Mi sausage sandwich. The fries were a gigantic portion and were pretty good and not too spicy. The Bahn Mi sandwich was also a solid dish. The sausage was pretty fresh but it was tough to get a full bite with toppings due to the thickness. Ultimately, the food was good, but not great. I like the spot, though so I'll definitely be back for lunch.
