Cool spot. They have a pretty solid beer selection and the bartender and I chatted about different brews for a while. For lunch, I started with the chili fries and then had a Bahn Mi sausage sandwich. The fries were a gigantic portion and were pretty good and not too spicy. The Bahn Mi sandwich was also a solid dish. The sausage was pretty fresh but it was tough to get a full bite with toppings due to the thickness. Ultimately, the food was good, but not great. I like the spot, though so I'll definitely be back for lunch.

There's a new sausage place in town and SPOILER ALERT...it's pretty damn good!

The interior is really sleek. Lot's of brick and other ambient delights to stimulate your rods and cones. It is certainly sporting that "new restaurant smell".

For food, they basically do one thing and one thing only...sausages. After a quick perusal of the menu and introduction by the bartender to the daily specials, I ended up going with their stuffed pepper special and the duck, duck, pig sausage. Shortly after placing my order, I was informed that I couldn't get the peppers because they didn't have cauliflower puree. Oh well, no big deal. Shortly thereafter, my sausage arrived.

It's not large...in fact, it's more the size of a hot dog than a sausage. Let me tell you this, though...that thing tasted great. It was topped with frisee (which is easily removed as I'm not a fan) and crispy duck confit. You heard me correctly...CRISPY DUCK CONFIT! I won't hesitate to say that this dish was a masterpiece. On the side came some potato salad which was also nice.

Then, I was informed that I was getting my peppers after all. They came out next and were worth the wait. The peppers were stuffed with a savory bread pudding and served over some cauliflower puree and pepper sauce.

Because the first two dishes (though served out of order) were so good, I was talked into dessert. I went with a brownie topped with liquid nitrogen cooled ice cream. I'm not usually a dessert guy, but this was a good offering. The brownie was flavored with a mix of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel.

Service was good, and I even got a free beer due to the pepper mix up. All in all, Salt & Cleaver was a really good time and their food is awesome. I'll definitely be back in the short term. Did I mention they have a menu of non-traditional whiskys?
